James Wickersham was a lawyer, judge, and author; delegate to Congress from Alaska, 1909-1921 and 1931-1933. Edmund Schuster was born in Hirschegg Austria Sept. 15, 1935. He began his education in Hirschegg and apprenticed in a family inn and trade school. Before coming to Alaska he worked as a coal miner in Germany, a uranium miner in Canada and as a firefighter and carpenter.
